EJI Brings Popular New Eateries to Downtown Montgomery
New Hero location is now open
05.13.25

We’re excited to announce the opening of Hero, a new restaurant, in downtown Montgomery. We have invested in building a space close to the Legacy Museum and Legacy Plaza to create more dining options for visitors and the community.
EJI is thrilled to welcome Pihakis Restaurant Group, who bring their popular Birmingham restaurant, Hero, and in a few weeks, will also open a second location of Little Donkey. The eateries will be located at 350 and 378 N. Perry Street, respectively.
Hero serves breakfast and lunch specialties along with the signature doughnuts that launched the brand years ago in Birmingham. Now with eight locations in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, Hero began with founder Chef Wil Drake selling his brioche doughnuts at pop-ups in a beloved vinyl record shop, local farmers markets, and events. The doughnuts developed a cult following and his desire to expand both his reach and the menu led him to partner with Nick Pihakis and The Pihakis Restaurant Group in 2017.
Hero bakes its brioche dough daily for doughnuts and sandwiches. The menu is well-rounded with something for everyone and offers breakfast, hamburgers, and the now-famous Super Crunch fried chicken sandwich. Original recipes, with an emphasis on house-made sauces and sides, great coffee, and thoughtful service make Hero a daily treat.
Hero is open daily from 7 AM to 4 PM with the full menu available at all times. Learn more and explore the menu at eatathero.com.
“We are extremely excited to have Hero opening in downtown Montgomery, offering a much-needed breakfast and lunchtime menu that will provide variety and options for residents and visitors,” said Bryan Stevenson. “We are delighted to work with the Pihakis Group on this project and look forward to seeing folks at Hero.”
EJI welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors to our Legacy Sites each year and has been working to expand the downtown infrastructure needed to accommodate our many guests. Hero is a welcome addition to Montgomery.
